Alexandra Bounxouei competes with Thai singer on Thai TV show

Lao pop singer Ms Alexandra Bounxouei competed with Thai- American singer Ms Pamela      Bowden on the hit Thai TV show “Joke Tud Joke” on Sunday.
The show, broadcast every Sunday night on Thailand’s Workpoint television channel, promotes Thai comedy artists and singers. Performers appearing on the show usually perform each other’s songs. 
Ms Alexandra is one of the Lao pop singers invited to appear on the show, and she competed against Ms Pamela in the programme.
Ms Alexandra sang the song “Bodaeng Salaengjai”, a popular song by Ms Pamela, in her own style, using the melody from the track “Monhak Songfangkhong”, which she had sung for the soundtrack of a Thai drama.
Her performance received a good response from the composer of the track and the popular singers who serve as mentors and judges for the programme. It was also appreciated by the comedy artists who appeared on the show on Sunday.
Ms Pamela Bowden said she was happier to listen to a different version of her track, and that she had waited a week to watch Ms Alexandra’s performance.
This was the first show outside Laos for Ms Alexandra since the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, and she said she was happy that people could now easily travel between the two countries.
Ms Pamela also showcased her talents by performing the track “Monhak Songfangkhong” with a version of “Bodaeng Salaengjai”, and her singing was praised by the judges and the audience.
Both singers appreciated having the chance to perform together on the programme and to promote exchanges in music and culture.
