Lao and Vietnamese Officials watch a culture performance.

Lao troupe performs in Vietnam to celebrate 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties

A Lao troupe from the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism recently participated in a cultural event in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Laos-Vietnam diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
Lao officials and artists, who visited Vietnam during July 17-22, participated in a Lao Culture Week to celebrate the two special occasions. They also joined a bilateral meeting between the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and related ministries of Vietnam to promote cooperation and culture exchanges.
The Lao Culture Week in Ho Chi Minh City had two main activities - cultural performances by the Lao National Art Ensemble, and a photo exhibition to promote Laos and its culture and the special relations between the two countries.
The exhibition featured 100 photos related to the special relations between Laos and Vietnam, livelihood, culture, and successful cooperation between the two sides.  
The Lao Culture Week was organised by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from Vietnam.
The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism organised nine cultural performances by the National Art Ensemble that highlighted the culture of Laos and the special relations with Vietnam.
The Vice President of Laos, Dr Bounthong Chitmany, and high ranking officials of Vietnam participated in the cultural events along with the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Ms Suanesavanh Vingaket, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Van Hung.
The Lao troupe completed 12 cultural performances at Hoi An in Kuang Nam province on July 20, and it also completed 11 cultural performances at Da Nang the following day. These performances attracted both officials and members of the public.
The Deputy Director General of the Department of Art and Culture, Ms Vanhsy Soukchaleune, said she appreciated watching these culture events, and was happy that Vietnamese officials and people liked the performances by the Lao artists that promoted the country’s culture. She also appreciated the warm welcome given to the Lao troupe by the Vietnamese officials and people.
