Laos to face Thailand in AFF U-19 semis

Laos is gearing up for a tough battle against Thailand in the semi-finals of the Asean Football Federation U-19 Championship in Indonesia at 8pm on Wednesday.
Thailand is currently ranked second in Group A, while Laos is top of Group B after four wins.
Group A in the championship comprises Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei and the Philippines, while Group B consists of Malaysia, Laos, Timor Leste, Cambodia and Singapore.
In their match against Malaysia on Monday, Laos used many substitute players, with the fresh legs on the pitch giving them the advantage and resulting in a surprise 1-0 win over Malaysia.
Malaysia is now ranked second in Group B and will play top-ranked Vietnam in Group A in the other semifinal at 3:30pm on Wednesday.
The Lao squad has been training since June 20 after the final selections for the team were made by head coach Mr Michael Weiss, who also led the Lao team at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in May.
The playoffs for third and fourth place will take place at 3:30pm on July 15, while the final will kick off at 8pm.
The Lao Football Federation is giving 100 million kip to the young Lao team for each match they win.
