Judo fighters to test skills at national championships

Judo fighters from clubs in Vientiane and the provinces will have an opportunity to test their skills at the 11th Lao Judo Championships this weekend.
The event will take place at the Lao-Japan Budo Centre in Vientiane on October 15-16.
This will be a welcome opportunity for practitioners of the martial art, as no competitions have been held for the past two years because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Several companies are supporting the championships, which will be contested by the country’s best fighters.
Many of them will represent their provinces at the 11th National Games, which take place in Xieng Khuang province at the end of this year.
Many judo fighters train at the Lao-Japan Budo Centre where they develop their skills and are now eager to try their luck in the national championships this weekend.
The Lao Judo Federation will be on the lookout for likely candidates for the national judo team, who will train for the South-East Asian (SEA) Games taking place in Cambodia in May next year.
Last month, the Lao judo team won a bronze medal at the Thailand International Judo Championships.
The Lao judo team also won two silver and two bronze medals at the previous SEA Games, which took place in Vietnam in May.
