2,000 runners raise money for children’s hospital
Some 2,000 runners from Laos and other countries gathered in Luang Prabang on Sunday morning for a half marathon in support of the Lao Friends Hospital for Children, which is located in the town.
The popular event comprised 7km, 14km and 21km races, with runners taking part to raise 900 million kip in support of the children’s hospital.
Also present on occasion were the Deputy Governor of Luang Prabang province, Mr Bounleuan Manivon and officials from various organisations, who were joined by members of the public to watch the runners as they raced through the streets of the historic city.
Prior to the event, Team WeRun covered a distance of 385km from Vientiane to Luang Prabang province from October 25-29.
Team WeRun comprised Mr Masaaki Kawabata from Japan, Mr Nimmane Phanpaseuth from Laos, Mr Daniel Ose from Germany, and Mr Ryan Cacayan from the Philippines.
