Laos in with a chance at AFF football champs

Building on their success against Malaysia on Friday, the Lao U-23 squad aim to further improve their form and teamwork in the second leg on Monday, in a bid to achieve their goal of making it through the first round of the AFF Under-23 Championship taking place in Cambodia.
The second leg will take place at the Morodok Techo National Stadium at 7pm.
The Lao team was delighted to beat Malaysia 2-1 at the Prince Stadium in the first leg of their face offs with the Malaysian side.
The win was a great start and a huge boost to the team’s confidence.
It was also a great encouragement to the team’s new head coach, Mr Michael Weiss from Germany, who watched the players achieve the win and gain three points under his first appearance with the squad at an international competition.
If Laos draws against Malaysia in the second leg on Monday, they will be through to the second round, as Laos and Malaysia are the only teams competing in Group B following the withdrawal of Myanmar and Indonesia.
The Lao squad is training at the Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng training ground in Cambodia under the watchful tutelage of Mr Weiss, who is keen to see them progress.
The teams playing in Group A of the competition comprise host Cambodia, Timor Leste, the Philippines and Brunei, while Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore are facing off in Group C.
